Welcome

Join us on our journey eating through our beautiful country South Africa. We will be testing out our country's variety of foods, which are as rich and as "rainbow like" as our nation. On our way we will stop by a few cinemas and watch a movie or two (We are after all movie fanatics) and if we have the money for it, do some adventures! Where to eat, what to watch or what to do in South Africa. We will try it out for you and let you know what is best. We start our journey in Gauteng. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Dec 2011 Holiday Wrap Up

Here is a summary of all the restaurants we visited this December/ January 2011/2012 holiday and the movies we saw.

Restaurant: Waffle House Randburg
We once again waited to be seated only this time we waited in the rain (And there are two queues which meant waiting for at least an hour and we went there for breakfast! Thus waiting with empty stomachs!). Luckily it was worth it because the waffles at the Waffle house is unlike one would expect. The sweet waffles are sweeter and the savoury waffles are unexpectedly great! But you'd think with such a big demand at the Waffle House they would expand...

Restaurant: Italian Pizza at Rosebank
The atmosphere was quite elegant but the service could be improved a bit. The food itself was different, we'd say. The pizza crusts were very thin, but not at the least bad tasting. You'd find strange dishes such as the nut krazy pizza. It was OK.

Restaurant: Breakers Uvongo
They have great fish here. And friendly staff. All I can say is the Monk Fish is a must!

Movie: Tower Heist
Not one of the movies that wow'd us. Tower Heist was OK, quite funny.

Movie: Arthur Christmas
It was the cutest! Christmas lovers will appreciate this movie. It brings the feeling of being "little" around Christmas time and the magic we felt at the time. The animation in this movie was done well. We very much enjoyed it.

Movie: The Adventures of Tin Tin
Talk about putting life into animated characters! If you squint a bit you'd think there were real actors in all the scenes. The movie was action packed and a lot of fun. Not sure what Tin Tin fans would think of the movie, whether the movie lived up to the series - which was a bit before our time. The adventures of Tin Tin was a lot of fun especially in 3D.

Movie: Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol
A disappointment compared to the previous movies. The action was watered down with attempts to make the movie funnier, which just didn't fit the whole Mission Impossible saga (for me that is). We are not anonymous on this, some of us think that Ghost Protocol was a better movie than the previous Mission Impossible movies. I guess this one is up to you..

Movie: Girl with the dragon Tattoo
Dark Dark Dark! For those of us who read the book the story seemed a bit rushed. I wondered whether people would be able to understand it. Well, it seemed like it. The two of us who didn't read the book seemed to understand it well enough. But we recommend not showing this movie to sensitive viewers as even a normal person might become traumatized by some of the scenes. The movie still lived up to expectation, although some things in the book were different from the movie. Our advice: Read the book, watch the movie, try to forget all the bad things that went on, do remember the great mystery and the way the characters concurred their problems/challenges.
